Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about yourself?
I am a mom of 2 kids - 8 & 10 - from Ottawa. I am a member of, and past chair for our school council, a former executive member of the Ottawa Carleton Assembly of School Councils(OCASC), and currently the OCASC Webmaster.

I'm webmaster for my children's School and School Council. Check out a new website http://epttech.wordpress.com designed to help parents learn technology that they can use to reach their school communities.

Welcome Tanya. I'm the executive director of People for Education. I hope you like this new space we've created. We hope that it will be helpful, it will spark new thinking, and that it will allow us to work together to develop a new vision for schools in the 21st century.

Schools are closing...

More school boards across the province are exploring the option of closing schools in the face of enrolment declines and budget pressures.

172 schools are slated or recommended to close in Ontario between 2009 and 2012, and a further 163 reviews are in progress.
