New Vision for Education (press conference June 8)

Creativity, innovation and integration are the basis for a renewed vision for education in Ontario.

Ontario's education system is doing very well in addressing the core subjects, says Annie Kidder. But if we want an education system that truly meets the needs of the 21st century, were going to have to expand our vision beyond the mechanics of reading, writing and math.

Schools are closing...

More school boards across the province are exploring the option of closing schools in the face of enrolment declines and budget pressures.

172 schools are slated or recommended to close in Ontario between 2009 and 2012, and a further 163 reviews are in progress.
